Deadline for nominations of the Awards: March 1, 2026 (Japan Time)

The award winners will be announced at the award ceremony during the conference.

The recipients of all Awards will be selected by the CSW Award Committee. Please submit nominations for the awards by a single PDF to the Chair of the CSW Award Committee, Prof. Yasuhiko Arakawa, by March 1, 2026.

The International Symposium on Compound Semiconductors (ISCS)

ISCS is the preeminent international conference in the field of III-V, II-VI, and IV-IV semiconductors. The ISCS series was initiated in 1966 under the name of "International Symposium on GaAs". Later, in 1970 (the 3rd conference), the name of the conference was changed to "International Symposium on GaAs and Related Compounds" in order to cover not only GaAs but also GaP, InP, and their alloys in the scope of the conference. Since 1994 (the 21st conference), the conference name has been changed to "International Symposium on Compound Semiconductors (ISCS)". The current name reflects the scope of the conference to accommodate a wide variety of compound semiconductors vital for modern electronic and optoelectronic devices.

The ISCS Awards

The Welker Award

external-Nomination by a designated form

The Welker Award was established in 1976 by Siemens AG in honor of Heinrich Welker, the pioneer in the field of III-V compound semiconductors. The award is given away for outstanding research in the area of III-V compound semiconductors.
Sponsored by ams-OSRAM AG

The Quantum Devices Awards

external-Nomination by a designated form

The Quantum Devices Award was initiated by Fujitsu Quantum Devices Ltd. in 2000, and is now sponsored by the Japanese section of the ISCS steering committee. The Award honors pioneering contributions to the field of compound semiconductor devices and quantum nanostructure devices including physics and epitaxial growth.
Sponsored by the ISCS Japanese Committee

The Young Scientist Award

external-Nomination by a designated form

The Young Scientist Award supported by the Symposium. Established in 1986, the Award acknowledges significant achievements in the field of compound semiconductors by a scientist younger than 40 years on the first day of the Symposium.
Sponsored by the CSW2026 organizing committee

The International Conference on Indium Phosphide and Related Materials (IPRM)

IPRM is the major conference worldwide on Indium Phosphide and Related Materials, from physics to its applications. The first conference was held in 1989, Norman, OK, USA. The IPRM technical conference and exhibit are held yearly and its location alternates between North America, the Pacific Rim, and Europe.

The IPRM Awards

external-Nomination by a designated form

The IPRM Award was initiated by the Indium Phosphide and Related Materials (IPRM) Conference in 1993, as The Michael Lunn Award. During the first three years following its introduction (1993-1995), the award was given for the best paper presented at IPRM. The award criteria were revised in 1996 to recognize individuals who have made "outstanding contributions to the InP community". In 2007, the award was renamed the IPRM Award and has since been sponsored by the IPRM international steering committee to recognize individuals or organizations who have made an outstanding contribution to the InP and related materials community, especially in the areas of materials growth, photonic components, and high frequency electronics.
Sponsored by the IPRM Japanese Committee
